Happy 2.22.22! Time continues to fly by, I can't believe it is already almost March. We are well into 2022 now and I hope you all have been having a great past few weeks, and for those who haven't that IS okay. There are 10 more months left in this year and there is plenty of time left to get started on goals, make new habits, or just continue in your happy lifestyle.
Today I wanted to talk all about my rules and goals for 2022. It is never too late to make goals for the year, but also never too late to make some rules or create some boundaries for yourself.
*MENTAL NOTE: rules and goals don't have to be scary, intimidating, or restricting. They are for you to create a lifestyle that works for you and helps you become the best version of yourself. Also, these are MY goals and rules for myself and my life. This blog is meant to encourage or give you ideas. I am not saying my way is the only way or my rules are the only rules. Do what is best for you, always :)
22 goals and rules
1. Nothing Matters
I know that after reading that you are probably a little confused, so let me explain. I listen to Middle Ground Podcast by Jo Johnson Overby and Caroline Stelte. Two local NWA girls and it has been so fun listening to them and learning from their experiences and life. One thing they have engrained in me is that nothing matters. That means whatever you are stressed about, worried about, or focused on won't matter in a year, 5 years, maybe even 5 days. The world is so big and the things we often times get caught up on are so small and don't even matter. I want to worry less and not care about the little things as much, because really, nothing matters.
2. Stop Settling for the bare minimum
This one is a big issue I see a lot and deal with a lot. Stop settling for the bare minimum in your relationships, friendships, work life, anything. You are deserving of more than the bare minimum that someone gives you. I want to stop being afraid of asking for more in friendships or work or anything. I am deserving.
3. Make my home a sanctuary
My home is the place I spend the majority of my time in. It should be a safe place like a sanctuary where I am comfortable and love everything in it. I've worked hard to make mine functional for daily tasks I need to get done at home, and for those long days when I come home and just need to relax. It's important that your home is a place you are excited to go to, not a place you dread or run away from.
4. Watch more sunsets/sunrises
I've always loved sunrises and sunsets. I'm the girl that will wake up at 4am with my camera and tripod in hand and film a time-lapse of the sunrise, or take my devotional and bible and go sit by the lake to watch the sunset. Lately, I've gotten out of that habit, but I want to implement it more. I am so grateful and fulfilled each time I watch the sunrise/set. I never regret that moment of my day!
5. Express my feelings more
Something on my list last year was to stop people pleasing, while I have successfully achieved that aspect I feel a side note of that is I don't express my feelings as much as I could/should. I am a very independent minded person, I feel I can figure anything out, problem solve, or handle anything without even consulting people sometimes. This is not always a good thing. My word for 2022 is vulnerable. Now why God put that word on my heart, I'm still not 100% sure, but I feel sharing my feelings and what I am truly feeling in the moment I am feeling it is definitely something I should work on.
6. Sunday / Monday weekly reset
So far in 2022 I have been doing this every week and it is SO SO good. A weekly reset to me is a time to clean, organize, work on my budget, and just get my mind right for the new week. I love new weeks and Sundays/Mondays because of the fresh start they bring. With my schedule these are the two days I have the most time back to back to get everything done. I'll deep clean the house, meal prep for the week, update my calendar and schedule, see what payments I have for the week, clean all of Olly's toys, laundry, and so much more. It has become second nature for me to do this these two days and I honestly look forward to it. I love how I feel after and how clean everything is each week! Helps my mind feel clutter free just like my space!
7. Clean the dishes and kitchen every night
Okay, this one is a big one for me. When I cook dinner at night I typically finish cooking, immediately throw all the dishes into the sink, put the leftovers in the fridge, and go eat. Then return to the kitchen in the morning and dread the thought of making breakfast for myself because of all the dishes I didn't do the night before. I know some of you do this cycle and some of you think I am crazy that this is actually an issue, but it makes a HUGE difference in my next day when I clean the dishes right after I cook or while I cook my meal. It's helping prepare myself to not have to deal with it the next day. Which is huge. Clean the kitchen and dishes every night. Then the next morning it won't be an issue and I am more motivated to be in the kitchen.
8. Create a morning routine
I know most people have a pretty set in stone schedule for each day, but for me almost every day of my week is different. I have different things going on or different times I need to be places and it changes each week. A morning routine was important for me to create in 2022 because it gives me time each morning that is the same every day. It creates consistency each day to where I am ready to start the day and go. Now maybe some days it's super early and maybe other days it's later and longer, but the important thing is I have something to start each day on the right foot.
9. Show up for myself
This ones goes along a little with cleaning the kitchen each night. Showing up for myself to me means doing the little things that my future self with thank me for. Cleaning the kitchen at night helps my future self not have to do it the next day or dread being in the kitchen. Filling up my gas tank when I notice its getting low rather than putting it off and being late the next day because I waited so long to get gas. Little things like that that help alleviate stress or worry on my future self because I put something off.
10. Make my bed daily
Self explanatory and simple, but works. Making your bed gives you at least 1 thing you did for yourself. Like showing up for yourself, you completed one task and your future self benefits from it. Plus, it helps those of you like me who like having a clean place to come home to after a long day at work.
11. Save money each paycheck
Something I already do but want to continue in 2022 is saving money each paycheck. Even if it's $5 or $50, it will add up and the longer I save the more I will have by the end of the year. You also never know when you will need money, whether your in a tight spot, you have a big bill come up out of nowhere, or you want to weekend trip some place. Having a savings will help, so making little payments each paycheck makes it a maintainable way to save rather than thinking you need to save so much money at once.
12. Create / find my style
This one is a little bit of a broad goal for me. I want to create and find my style in clothing so I am not just copying things I see, and when I go to my closet I want it to be a place of inspiration not dread. I want to hone in on my style within my brand KaGie. I have things here and there, but I really want to get it set in stone. Again, with something that fits to me and isn't just copying or replicating the content I see and consume.
13. Focus on what really is important to me
Just because something is important to your friend doesn't mean it is or needs to be important to you. I have such a big heart for people, and that often times leads me to carrying and taking on the load of their stuff, but that isn't always important to me. Sometimes it is, but sometimes I need to focus on other things. We all have different priorities and I want to focus on them without feeling I need to validate them to someone else or carry their stuff.
14. Read a devotional or book of the Bible each month
Pretty self explanatory but I want to grow spiritually and maybe even bring back my devotional blogs I used to do. Each month I have been and wish to continue growing in a specific way, and finding a book of the Bible or devotional that will help me grow in that area.
15. Read more
Okay, for those who know me probably laughed at this one because I rarely ever read. Now I don't hate reading, it just takes me a while to get hooked on a book and if I am not hooked in a couple pages I'm out. I know thats not a good habit, but I am determined to make that change. It is a discipline for me to sit down, read, and not doing anything else. But it is something I want to get into so I am off my phone and the screens and doing something that isn't creative like I typically do, but stretches my brain.
16. Don't hesitate
Often times when a situation presents itself I know in my gut if I want to say yes or no, but I hesitate. I hesitate either because I know it's not the answer the other person is looking for or because I am doubting my decision. Well, I need to stop doing that. I don't need to cater my decisions to what I think others want, and I need to have confidence in what I am doing. If I don't, how can I expect anyone else to have confidence in me? So hesitate less, say yes or say no the second you know thats what you want.
17. Reach out more with no expectations
A lot of the times I will want to reach out to someone, but I don't because I expect them to answer or respond a certain way, then when they don't I get upset. I am working on training my brain to have no expectations. No expectations in life, but also in peoples responses. Just because they don't text back doesn't mean anything other than right now they are busy or don't feel like responding. Not everything is a personal attack, and I don't need to expect people to always do things the way I want them to. That's not their job.
18. Be at peace with who you have and where you are
I am blessed in that I never really look at someone and get jealous of the clothes they wear or how they look compared to myself. Which is a huge blessing because I know it is a real struggle and battle for many people. I do compare myself in the way of success. Like "oh they have __ friends who do this for them, where are mine at?" or "oh they did this by 20 and are here already, what am I doing?" This type of comparison I feel can dig a hole really deep because I feel I can be doing more and more even when I am already doing great. I want to be at peace with the friends and people I do have in my corner, and the place I am at right now. 2019 me would be so happy I made it to where I am today. Why feel that I could be doing more when I never stop to be at peace with how far I have come already?
19. It's important to be out of your comfort zone
You wont grow if you are comfortable. Something needs to change in your life in order to see a change. I am challenging myself this year to figure out what areas in my life I could get out of my comfort zone and try something new. I want to be growing and learning always!
20. Assume they mean the best for you
This one goes for those in your inner circle and people who are close to you. Assume they mean the best for you before you get mad at what they did/said. Don't dismiss what they are telling you because they "don't know" or "don't get it" The people closest to you don't want to hurt you, they want to encourage and help you. Maybe something is being miscommunicated, maybe you aren't seeing it how they see it, so take a step back before assuming the worst of your people.
21. Listen first
James 1:19-20 says it best...
“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” (NIV)
22. Be still
Post (midst?) pandemic me loves slowness and stillness. Rest is a good thing and it is so needed. Being still, to me, means not rushing from plan to plan to plan, intentionally slowing down to be still. Feel your breathe go in and out, listen to the sound of rain, hear the birds chirping, watch the clouds move. Sit. Be. Listen. Focus on the little things that we often over look in our busy always moving society.

Whew, that's a lot, but they are all so so good. I hope this gave you a little inspiration or motivation for your life in 2022. It is what YOU make it! Again, not all of this may resinate with you, but I hope at least one of them did.
If so, I'd love to hear which one resinated with you or a goal you have for 2022. Comment below, DM me on instagram or email me. I'd love to talk and chat with you.
It's never too late to start making your life the life you want to live! :)
XOXO,
KAGIE
