One of my best friends and I set out to start a devotional months ago, life then happened andddd we are just now getting to it. Which is actually super ironic because the devotional we are doing together is The Best Yes by Lysa Terkeurst. Which talks about people who say yes to everything, are constantly booked, and just need to stop and realize that the best yes we can say is yes to God. Ummm okay wow HELLO that’s definitely me to a T. And it is definitely ironic that her and I haven’t started the devotional until months later….
BUT as I have talked about (and will continue to talk about) my word of the year is intentional! I need to be intentionally in the word of God, growing and learning, and intentional with my friendships. It’s really powerful when a friendship can cross the line from just someone you hang out with, to someone you look up to in your faith / someone you can openly be vulnerable with. I talk a lot about that in my last blog The Transfer from Seeker to Mentor , and the power of crossing those lines.
So here’s to being open to God and intentional in all relationships.

The Best Yes Overview
This is a six week series all about 4 main things.
1 curing the disease to please with a biblical understanding of the command to love. 2 Escape the guilt of disappointing others by learning the secret of the small no. 3 Overcome the agony of hard choices by embracing a wisdom based decision-making process. 4 Rise above the rush of endless demands and discover your best yes today.
There is a book called The Best Yes that you can read and then there is also a study guide that goes with the book to do it as a devotional. (There also is a dvd that you can purchase if you want to do like a big study group, but we opted out of doing that!) I’ll link at the bottom to the website you can get them and where you can learn even more!!

This is really exciting to me, and I think that even though my friend and I got a little distracted by life… this devotional is without a doubt coming at the best time for me. There’s a lot I’ve said yes to already this year, and I’ve said yes to a lot of future plans, but am I saying yes to God? Am I actively trying to please Him or man? Its a lot to think about and I’m ready to dive into this devotional!
My friend and I plan to meet weekly and discuss sections together, and then read the chapters in the book that goes along with it, separately. I am going to blog about the devotional as we go through it, either two weeks at a time or three weeks. Its a total of six weeks! If you follow my instagram @thelifeofkagie go to my story and vote on the poll I put up today and let me know how often you want to get details about this devotional!
