How to get into a Faith Based Routine

In todays society busy is the new normal. Well, the past few weeks, and especially days, society has had to slow down in a major way. I won’t go into detail, because we all know what’s going on in the world today and it can be scary, but it can also be motivating. I think this is the perfect time for us to get into routines where we are constantly in Gods word and in communication with Him.

I am going to share some easy steps on how to get in the Word while you are at home, and some ways to get everyone in your family involved in it!

 Solid Joys | Daily Devotional

I have mentioned this app before and I apologize, but it is so so good! This app is an easy 5 – 7 minute reading of a passage with some questions/topics of thought at the bottom. Perfect for those of you who want to get in the word before even stepping your feet on the floor in the mornings. The devotionals are daily and on various passages.

She Reads Truth

Perfect for the women who want to be in the Word of God daily. This is another app that has tons of devotionals to choose from, some are free and some paid. It also has the Bible in full text in multiple translations for easy access right on your phone. I have loved the devotionals that I have done from here, and even loved connecting with other women who are involved in this community on social media!

Commit to 15* minutes in the Word

For some 15 minutes seems like a very short amount of time and for others that seems like an impossible task. But it is so well worth it! This time is a rough starting point, and you can build up on it day by day or week by week. If you spend 15 minutes or more of the day in the Word I promise your days will turn brighter. This is long enough time to read a short chapter in a book of the Bible that you have committed to reading, and then gives you the ability to soak on it and meditate in it throughout your day.

Accountability Partners

While we can’t be around our friends and coworkers daily right now, technology has us covered. Pick a close friend of yours who can keep you accountable in this time! Send each others texts to see if they have spent their 15 minutes in the Word for the day, and just check in with them to see how they are doing or if they are struggling with anything. Now more than ever we need to check in with our people and make sure they still have hope. Make sure they know God has got them covered and He will prevail.

Memorize a verse each week

This would be an easy and fun way to get the whole family involved in the Word! Create a list of verses that you are going to challenge yourself and your family to memorize each week. Then on a set day, share the verses, that you each memorize, out loud each week, and tell why you chose to memorize that verse! This will be a great way to get the family together being vulnerable in the Word, but also keep the challenge alive for those who like it. If you have little kids, you can skip the “telling them why” part, and just focus on everyone memorizing a verse together as a family. That way you can help them learn and even learn yourself!

Commit to praying for 3* friends/family each day

We can’t go to coffee shops and sit around the table sharing prayer requests and hold hands as we pray for the person on our right, but we can still pray for each other. Text, email, or even write an old fashioned letter, to a friend, family member, or coworker and ask them what they need prayer for! Let them know that even when you aren’t seeing them on a daily basis that you are still thinking about them and you still want to make sure they know that. It will mean the world to them. Prayer is powerful. Continue to pray for people during this time, and pray for those who are suffering because of what’s going on in the world. You may not know their name, or who they are, or where they are, but God does. So all you need to do is send up a prayer for them and God will take care of the rest.

*Also, 3 is not a magical number and neither is 15. These are just rough numbers / time limits that I have put into practice in my own life! I am sharing what I start with as a base for my routine, so if you want to do more or less, go for it. There is no right or wrong answer 🙂

I hope you find these helpful as you all try to get into a faith based routine! As always comment of DM me on Instagram  with any questions or comments you may have!

Stay safe!
