Puerto Rico Mission Trip 2019

Normally this is the week that I count down to and can’t wait for. The week I get to go out of the country with Samaritan’s Feet, give new shoes away to children and adults, and share God’s love.

But this year it was different.. the devil definitely was in my head. The point I’m at in my life right now is chaos. Life has been going 180mph for me ever since May. Graduation. 18. Wisdom Teeth. College. Dorm prep. Sickness. Mission Trip. These are just a few of the things that have caused excitement and stress in my life, but kept me constantly busy. The mission trip snuck up on me this year and I wasn’t ready for it and started coming up with excuses to myself of why I shouldn’t go. But I went. I conquered the stress and doubt.

Puerto Rico was amazing. From the people, to the land, to the vibe and feel of the places I was in.. it was the place for me.

My team of 17 people from all over the United States, served about 425 kids and adults. We washed their feet, gave them new socks and new shoes. Encouraged them that God love’s them, that they have a purpose and shared lots smiles and laughs.

Every morning and night the team did devotionals. Someone from the group would share a verse, their testimony.. basically whatever God put on their heart to share with us. And it was so so good. Everyone who shared become so vulnerable and spoke from their heart. God was really working in all of our hearts, growing us, and making us available for His change. This made the work we did outside in Puerto Rico so much better. We were a team. We were connected. Brothers and sisters in Christ.

I’m so thankful for the 3 specific people I met that live in Puerto Rico. They hold a special place in my heart. I will forever be grateful for the lessons that, one specifically, taught me and pushed me further in my faith. That friendship will last, I know it.

I know God has many other places he wants me to go to help others on mission, but I know he wants me back in Puerto Rico. See you soon Puerto Rico. Miss you already ❤️
